SMART and American IDC launch Interactive SmartTv JukeBox™

SmartTv JukeBox™ is a new SMS or “text messaging” service that allows mobile users for the 1st time in history, to make requests for a song, chat, buy logos and ring tones from a television “show”, using their cell phone. Each SMS is charged a PremiumSMS rate depending on the content purchased. In Europe, these services generate millions of dollars per day; a simple SMS “text message” that is sent from your mobile phone, appears within seconds on your TV screen, and the participant is billed, usually $0.75 or more.
"What better way to be able to sit at home with some good friends over a drink and use your mobile phone as a remote control to ask for your favorite music video to be played nationwide?” asks Halldor Sanne, CEO and President of SMART. The service is very simple to use: Say for example you want to choose a song to be played. On the screen is a menu of songs. You choose a Britney Spears song to be played, so text the message SONG BRITNEY, to the number 76278 or SMART. If your song has enough viewer votes, the song is then played within minutes. The best part is that the fee is charged to your mobile phone for each SMS. “This will change television and the way TV stations do business. Soon, they will be using this technology to generate income they did not see coming this year.”
